About the Department of Philosophy
The Department of Philosophy of Hacettepe University was founded in 1969. The aim of the department is to raise awareness for the need for philosophical knowledge in both shaping the individual and social life, and conducting research in various fields of knowledge and therefore to enable philosophy, as a scientific field, to contribute greatly to development of societies.
The Department offers undergraduate, MA and PhD programs as well as Teaching Certificate Programs for students of Sociology and Psychology departments who would like to work as teachers at high schools. The Department also offers elective courses for students of other departments.
